Reasons for not having more kids

A few Catholics we know all noticed that people when they notice we have lots of kids close together are real quick to offer us a litany of reasons why they cannot have more kids.

"I cannot handle it"
"They are too expensive"
"I have a medical condition"

etc. We hear this all the time.

I am just curious. Why? You don't have to justify your choice to me.

My wife is constantly telling me that she is going to pull her hair out the next time someone says " I bet you have your hands full"

I have always thought the reason was because having lots of kids says very clearly "whats your excuse for not having more kids" .. I cannot imagine that a person with a good reason would be bothered by this. To be bothered by it suggests that you question your reasoning on the matter. IMHO that is your conscience telling you to examine your reasons.

Kids are a living refutation of the weak excuses and an affirmation of the call to be parents.
